Bio
David began his career at Keystone Press in 1968 as a motorcycle messenger, initially taking pictures of pop groups and motorcycle racing in the evenings and at weekends. A move into the darkroom as a black-and-white printer followed which led on to becoming a full-time photographer from 1972 onwards, covering both general news and sport. In October 1978
David joined the Daily Star at the start of the paper, initially covering sport and news. August 1986 was the year the Independent / Independent on Sunday launched and he joined as their Chief Sports Photographer.
During his 43 year career he covered all aspects of photojournalism. David was with the Royal Navy in HMS Maxton in 1973 on the Suez Canal while it was clearing ordinance after the Yom Kippur war between Egypt and Israel . There were many assignments with the military and royal assignments including the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977.

From hanging out of the back of a helicopter photographing F1 powerboating, photographing the Ashes test matches in Australia to photographing the Olympic 100 metre final in Barcelona David "Splashdown" has photographed all of the worlds greatest sporting events.
